Brand-new award ceremony champions small businesses and entrepreneurs from across South Yorkshire

19th July 2023

South Yorkshire SMEs, start-ups and entrepreneurs are set to be celebrated at a brand-new award ceremony later this year.

The very first unLTD Business Awards will take place at Sheffield’s Peddler Warehouse on November 30, 2023, before moving across the region to ensure all parts of South Yorkshire are fully represented.

Phil Turner, managing director at unLTD, said: “We want all SMEs, small businesses and entrepreneurs from across South Yorkshire to feel like our awards are meaningful to them and they stand a chance of winning.

“We have designed the entry and judging processes to be as straightforward as possible to encourage small business owners and managers, who often have very little spare time, to be able to take part. We really want all types of businesses from right across the region to be involved and celebrate each other’s successes. The only caveat is that you must be an SME or smaller.”

There are 20 awards in all, with most categories bracketed by industry – levelling the playing field and allowing people to compete with others in their sector.

Entries will open on September 4, with judges then meeting in October to agree a shortlist ahead of the ceremony at the end of November.

In the lead-up to the event, the unLTD team are looking for sponsors and commercial partners who would like to showcase their brand using the awards as a platform.

Phil added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people to show their support for smaller businesses and get involved with an exciting new event that celebrates everything our region has to offer, while promoting who they are and what they do.”

Businesses who have already signed up to sponsor the event include; Bag It Don’t Bin It, Simoda, Chapter II, Sevenhills Creative and See It Be It, a department of Sheffield Council which aims to inspire the next generation by linking up schools and colleges with local employers to provide meaningful workplace experiences.
