Breakfast Tax Seminar - Tax Issues for Succession in Family Business

11th November 2014

Free seminars on tax issues for family businesses Free seminars on the important issue of succession planning in family businesses and the tax implications arising from it are to be held in Sheffield and Doncaster this month.

Nearly three quarters of businesses in our region are family owned and the seminars are aimed at anyone interested or involved in succession planning including owners and shareholders, bank managers providing finance and support and lawyers acting for them. Peter Kennan, tax partner with independent chartered accountants and specialist business advisers Hawsons, who have offices in Sheffield and Doncaster, said: -Tax planning is absolutely vital. For example, family business owners retiring and wanting to hand over the reins could find themselves missing out on thousands of pounds through ignorance of tax allowances or reliefs. Peter will be one of three speakers from Hawsons, together with Stephen Charles, tax partner, and Brian Gooch, director of tax. The Sheffield seminar is at the Copthorne Hotel, Bramall Lane, on Tuesday, November 18, and the Doncaster event in the Players' Lounge, Keepmoat Stadium, on Thursday, November 20. Free bacon sandwiches and coffee will be available at both. Registration is at 7.30am and the presentations at 8.15am with a 9.15am finish.
