BRM Solicitors and Cavendish Cancer Care Partner For Free Will Writing Service

12th March 2019

Sheffield-based charity Cavendish Cancer Care and law firm BRM Solicitors have partnered to offer a free will writing service this March.

Throughout the month, BRM will waive their fees for writing wills, and instead encourage clients to make a donation to Cavendish Cancer Care. Cavendish Cancer Care is a charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for those living with cancer and their loved ones. Since 1991, they have been helping people across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Every donation made in the free wills month can make a big difference to cancer patients and their families. The suggested minimum donations of just £77 for a single will and £154 for a joint will can help fund pain management sessions and help keep therapy rooms open for clients. £370 provides a full course of therapy for one person, helping them to face cancer and live their best possible life. From their centre at 34 Wilkinson Street, they offer free of charge support to people in need - whether that's someone facing a cancer diagnosis, or their family and friends. Everyone who reaches out to Cavendish gets an appointment within 5 working days and, after an initial assessment, will decide on the best course of action for them: whether that's counselling, massage, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, or any of the other treatments on offer. These therapies are designed to alleviate both the emotional strain of cancer and the physical pain that can come with the illness. There is even a specialised Young People's Service for children affected by cancer. At the opening of BRM's Sheffield city centre office in October 2018, Alastair Reid, BRM Director who heads up the Sheffield office said: -Having met and talked with the team at Cavendish Cancer Care, we admire their dedication, work, and simplicity of their aims. "Their core values of -Professional, Respectful, Open and Honest, Unflappable and Determined are very closely aligned to ours as legal professionals. We are proud to support them. 92% of people who used and reviewed the services say their overall quality of life was improved by the support. Unfortunately, Cavendish Cancer Care only receives enough government funding to keep their doors open for about two weeks. Therefore, they rely almost entirely on the generous support of volunteers, fundraisers and donors.
