Business Mentor Recruitment!

Sheffield Enterprise Agency (SENTA), as part of the South Yorkshire Chambers' Enterprise Consortia, has been delivering the National Enterprise Allowance (NEA) Scheme in Sheffield since 1st July 2011.

Key to the successful delivery of this scheme is the involvement of volunteer business mentors to help local people, currently claiming Jobseekers' Allowance, who wish to become self employed or start their own business. Together with our current bank of mentors, we have now helped more than 50 people to sign off unemployment benefits and start self-employment. If we are to continue our successful delivery of the scheme, and provide help to even more unemployed people, we need more volunteers to provide mentoring support.  Mentoring is a rewarding process and this is your opportunity to get involved in a national, government initiative at a local level to help unemployed people. We're are looking for mentors to work for a maximum of one hour per week, for up to 8 weeks, to help people develop their ideas and give some guidance as they plan and prepare to start trading. There is a limited amount of paperwork involved but the process will be supported by SENTA staff ensuring all necessary administration is covered. A business planning workshop will also be offered to our clients to complement the work done with the Mentor, and we're hoping to be able to provide some free, SFEDI-accredited, training to our mentors as well. Your business experience and expertise will be invaluable in helping fledgling businesses start and grow in Sheffield.
