Business superheroes wanted for champion night for charity!

3rd August 2015

The business community is being called upon to be superheroes and raise funds for charity at Sheffield Chamber of Commerce's Annual President's Dinner.

Guests at the black tie dinner will be encouraged to be champions for the night, with all money raised from the evening going to Support Dogs, the Sheffield-based charity dedicated to increasing independence and quality of life for people with various medical conditions through specialist assistance dogs. Chamber Events Manager Angela Wall, said: -We've taken on board feedback from members and have decided to change focus for the 2015 event. The evening will now be a showcase for our Charity of the Year and will include two high profile speakers. Guests will be joined by speakers Lloyd Scott MBE and Mark Wood. Fundraiser and charity supporter Lloyd has to date raised £5m for charity through various fundraising challenges, including the London and New York Marathons in a deep sea diver's outfit and cycling across Australia from Perth to Sydney on a penny farthing. Polar explorer Mark Wood is leading the 'Race Against Time Expedition' in 2016. With more than 30 expeditions under his belt, his latest trek will start from the Russian coastline and will be registered as an official expedition and recorded in the history books. Angela said: -The event will have a super hero theme Lloyd, through his charity efforts, Mark through his sheer determination and of course, the Support Dogs themselves, who enable individuals to live full, independent lives. -Our President David Thurkettle is keen to dedicate the dinner to raising the profile of Support Dogs, and we are determined to make a real difference to the charity this year, and hope all of our members join us to support the event and be heroes just for one night! The President's Dinner is one of the most high profile dates on the region's business calendar, attracting in the region of 300 business delegates and key city leaders. The event, sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and SaBRE, will be held on Thursday 17 September at Sheffield Cathedral between 7pm and 11:30pm.
