Cara celebrates 20 years with Sheffield family optometrist

10th January 2019

A mum of two from Norton has celebrated 20 years of loyal service to a Sheffield family optometrist.

Cara Smith has worked in the Chesterfield Road, Woodseats practice of Alex Gage for 20 years and was promoted to Practice Manager in 2006. Cara reflects on the last 20 years: "I've thoroughly enjoyed working with Alex, the team and our lovely patients over the last two decades. "Much has changed, notably computerisation and doing our own glazing, a skill that I was delighted to learn. More recently, it was great to see the difference that the refurbishment made to the practice." Speaking about Cara's long service, Alex Gage said: "Dedicated staff members like Cara are an increasing rarity nowadays and she is a very valued and respected member of the team and a real credit to the business." Cara concludes: "Optical assistant, Rachel Ireson and I seem to have made a great team. When I first joined, it was just us two with Alex for a long time. Then the business grew and we have taken on more staff. I enjoy working as part of the Alex Gage team and look forward to many more happy years to come." Cara and husband, Carl, will celebrate with a meal at Sheffield Steakhouse, Miller and Carter. When she's not working, Cara enjoys spending time with her husband and girls, aged four and six, catching up with friends and, when time permits, long walks and trips to the gym. Rachel Ireson celebrated her 20th anniversary at Alex Gage's Woodseats practice in May, 2017. Alex Gage has owned the Woodseats practice since 1996 and the practice had an extensive refurbishment in 2017. For more information or to make an appointment at Woodseats, please pop in to 857 Chesterfield Road, Woodseats or call 0114 274 8582. Alex Gage has a second practice at 48 Sandygate Road, Crosspool.
