Cavendish Cancer Care Are Still Here For You

31st March 2020

Cancer charity Cavendish Cancer Care want to ensure stakeholders that the charity remains open for business during the Covid-19 pandemic and would like people to know that they are still here for you.

Emma Draper, CEO, stated

“These are exceptional times for all of us, but for those living with or caring for someone with cancer, or awaiting treatment, this is a particularly anxious time.”

“We are committed to continue our support to local families affected by cancer, but we have changed how we work in response to guidelines from the UK Government and Public Health England.”

“Since 17th March, we have closed the doors of the Tim Pryor Centre to the public and have transitioned to a telephone and online face-to-face service offering counselling, relaxation and self-management techniques. Our children and young people’s service is also providing counselling and art therapy via video meetings. We also continue to offer our well-established peer-to-peer telephone support service, Cavendish Cancer Buddies: https://cavcare.org.uk/about-us/cancer-buddies/.”

“As always, we represent our core values of honesty, openness, and determination. We are already seeing that there is a real need for support during this time of uncertainty and self-isolation for many of our clients, and we are determined to be there for them.”

“Thank you to everyone who has sent messages of understanding at this time, and to those of you who are asking how you can continue to support us. We are seeing an immediate effect on our income, particularly as events are cancelled and any form of external fundraising is not possible. As a charity that relies almost solely on the generosity of the general public, this is a challenge. But it’s one we can overcome with your support.”

“Our fundraising team are adapting to give you some great ideas of how you can help. We hope you will be able to stand side by side with us and join in with some of our new events and ideas coming soon. if you would like to make a donation at this time, please visit our Cavendish Care’s JustGiving campaign by clicking this link: Cavendish Cares Campaign.”

“I am extremely proud to be part of Team Cav and all of you who are a part of that, particularly at this time”
