Celebrating Recycle Week with DJB Recycling
22nd September 2021
Now in its 18th year, Recycle Week is Recycle Now’s flagship annual event celebrating recycling across the nation.
Running from the 20th – 26th September 2021, this is the one week of the year where retailers, brands, waste management companies, trade associations, governments and the media come together to achieve one goal: excite the public to recycle more of the right things, more often.
This year’s theme is Step It Up. After having no control over circumstances surrounding the last 15 months, this year’s theme aims for us as a nation to regain control over a situation we can do something about: The Climate Crisis.
Recycling reduces the need to consume natural resources by using used materials and converting them into new products. If used materials are not recycled, new products are made by extracting fresh, raw material from the Earth. Recycling helps to conserve important raw materials and protect natural habitats for the future.
That protection begins with us.
The public are becoming increasingly aware of sustainability and are choosing organisations who have processes in place to combat environmental issues. This makes Recycle Week an excellent opportunity for businesses to educate themselves and make positive changes when it comes to recycling behaviours, gaining positive publicity, and building organisation reputation.

As an avid supporter of Recycle Week, DJB Recycling are eager to encourage and educate businesses to ‘Step it Up’ when it comes to their waste.
“Recycling Week is designed to put across important messages about why recycling matters. It provides a great opportunity to motivate businesses and the public to recycle as well as highlight the progress we have already made for recycling in the UK.” – Helen Hayward, Commercial Director for DJB Recycling.
“We’ve seen year on year the positive impact Recycle Week has had on improving the way we think about our waste. Recycling is vital to build a circular system and keep valuable materials in the economy and out of the environment. That’s why we’ve worked tirelessly since 2005 to offer the range of services we do, including our waste to energy package that ensures we never send waste to landfill.” – Darren Bland, Managing Director at DJB Recycling.
A recent gov.uk study found that the UK generated 43.9 million tonnes of commercial and industrial waste in 2018.
DJB Recycling want to combat this.
In honour of Recycle Week, and to encourage businesses to do more with their waste, they’re offering ALL new customers a Free Recycling Service. This member-only offer includes a choice of either glass or cardboard recycling services when taken alongside any of our general waste products.
