Central Technology Supports the Launch the Buxton Festival in Sheffield
28th May 2014
Central Technology was delighted again to sponsor the Buxton Festival's launch party held in the Crucible Theatre on Wednesday 21st May for the second year running.
In what is steadily becoming a 'must attend' event, over 100 people from Sheffield's business, arts and media community attended, including Sheffield's Lord Mayor, to mark the opening of one of the UK's leading arts festivals. Presentations were given by David Heugh, Fundraising Director, Stephen Barlow the Artistic Director, and Dame Janet Smith, Chairman. Now into its 36th year the Buxton Festival takes place on 11th to 27th July when the magical spa town is transformed into a glittering stage to hosts some of the world's most renowned music and literary figures. Stephen Randall, was excited to announce that the rarely performed Dvořák's 'The Jacobin' is one of this year's highlights. He commented that is was one of the main draws of the Festival that it continues to concentrate on a repertoire that is less often performed, which in turn allows it to attract such calibre as Michael Chance. Stephen was also delighted that the world explorer, Ranulph Fiennes, was making a rare appearance this year as part of the literary series in conversation with Anton Bowring. The literary series will also see the likes of well-known writers such as Antonia Fraser, Kate Aide and Simon Jenkins. With a wide repertoire there is something to suit everyone, including Italian cooking legend Claudia Roden and business woman Emma Bridgewater. Ian Snow, Managing Director of Central Technology comments; 'Central Technology has a long standing relationship with Buxton Festival as it provides managed IT support to the Buxton Festival, which helps ensure the event goes smoothly behind the scenes all year round, not just for the 17 days the festival runs. We are delighted to be supporting the Festival again this year and it continues to be a privilege for us to support the arts community in this way.'
