Chair of Sheffield Chamber Chamber Transport Forum appointed to LEP Board

27th September 2018

Chair of Chamber Transport Forum appointed to LEP Board, Transport for the North Board and British Chambers of Commerce Transport Infrastructure Expert Panel.

"In a great move for the city and region, Peter Kennan has been appointed to three really important bodies. Following his appointment to the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership Board, Peter and our elected mayor, Dan Jarvis MP have become our permanent representatives on the Transport for the North Board. In parallel with this Peter has been appointed onto the British Chambers of Commerce Transport Infrastructure Expert Panel, which means he will now have an input at local, regional and national levels. Richard Wright, [CEO??] of Sheffield Chamber of Commerce said: "Transport infrastructure is widely recognised as one of the most important enablers to economic growth. As a region we are working on many projects including (but not exhaustively) East Midlands and Cross Country train franchises, cross Pennine links to the North West (road and rail), HS2 and rail links to Doncaster Sheffield Airport. Over the past few months we have seen transport strategies being produced at local (Sheffield), regional (LEP and TfN) and national level and it is critical for the region that we ensure these work together and we get our fair share of investment." "Peter said "I am really excited by the challenge in front of us and I am optimistic that we can achieve a lot. In my view it will be critical that we speak to Government with one voice and I look forward to trying to make that happen. My new roles will give me a great opportunity to try influence opinion about, and then to press hard for, what we need in the North and in our City Region."
