It was with great sadness that we learned recently about the death of Lord Bob Kerslake.
It was with great sadness that we learned recently about the death of Lord Bob Kerslake.
The Chamber wishes to extend its deepest sympathies to his family and reflect on the enormous contribution he made, not only to Sheffield, but to Yorkshire and the UK.
As Leader of Sheffield City Council between 1997 and 2008, Bob as he was affectionately known, was instrumental in delivering transformational change and making a real difference to people’s lives.
Many aspects of Sheffield’s post-industrial renewal are a legacy of Bob’s work and many of the organisations that Bob helped to put in place are still delivering positive outcomes for the city and its people.
As a Chamber of Commerce, we work closely with many of these organisations and the bodies they have paved the way for. Our work has always been centred on supporting growth and positioning Sheffield as the best place to start, grow and run a business.
Bob shared our vision, and in an interview, once poignantly said
“we only live once and should make an impact.”
Bob, shared our intense passion for Sheffield and was a true public servant. He certainly made an impact.
We are immensely thankful for what he achieved and forever grateful for his selfless contribution to the people, places, organisations, and businesses which make up Sheffield.
