Chamber reacts to DLA Piper restructure announcement

15th November 2012

Reacting to the news that DLA Piper is restructuring its UK operations with changes in Sheffield, Richard Wright, executive director of Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, said: -Clearly any situation where there might be redundancies is a sad and difficult time for those people affected.

There will be an element of uncertainty during the coming weeks until key decisions are made on the future of those employees in Sheffield. -However, DLA Piper's announcement also highlighted that the global company does have a long-term commitment to continue to operate in Sheffield, even after a full review of its operations, and we welcome this. They will still employ a lot of highly skilled people in the city and that is good for the region. -This underlines a general national and international perception that the city is a significant location and an important part of the UK's future. -Clearly DLA Piper has decided that there will be business for them in Sheffield in the future and as a city that is what we are working hard to achieve. As a Chamber we will be monitoring the situation closely and assist DLA where we can to reaffirm their support of Sheffield.
