Chamber supporting businesses with SEO rankings

10th April 2013

Businesses across Sheffield are being offered expert advice on how search engine optimisation (SEO) can boost income.

Sheffield Chamber of Commerce has launched a new Chamber SEO service to help companies of all sizes increase their online rankings on key search websites, such as Google, Bing and Yahoo. The service will be provided by leading search engine optimisation company, SEO Works, which has more than 80 clients across the UK from a variety of sectors including IT, manufacturing, recruitment, drinks, retail and property. Sheffield-based SEO Works was created by managing director Neil Palmer eight years ago and now has around 14 members of staff. Neil said: -The Chamber service will help to clarify what SEO is, how it works and what benefits are available to businesses. SEO is simply an alternative way to market a business which can be extremely effective. -In past years, the main uses of SEO were e-commerce companies, but we are now seeing a shift in trends with more traditional SMEs and sole traders using it to boost their profile. If anyone is researching a service or product, they will turn to the internet first. Therefore, a company with the best SEO will be best placed to benefit. SEO Works is based at Velocity Tower, close to Ecclesall Road and St Mary's Gate, with its offices open to the public to visit and speak to staff about online rankings. Neil added: -We are the only SEO company in this region to have a shop front type office which allows people to call in and meet with us face-to-face to discuss their business need. We have to get to know the company, its sector and key objectives to be able to build its rankings. Sheffield Chamber has partnered with SEO Works to enhance its own website www.scci.org.uk on search engine rankings around training, events and key business support services. Amanda Pilgrim, head of business development at Sheffield Chamber, said: -Chamber SEO will provide members with instant access to expert guidance and advice on how to generate better online rankings. -There is a clear connection between good SEO and improved revenue streams through the internet. We therefore hope this partnership will allow more members to benefit from this new marketing tool to grow their business and better target customers, who are searching for key services in the area.
