Charity Christmas card competition

16th September 2020

Crafty care home residents called on for Sheffield charity’s card contest.

Crafty older people from across Sheffield’s care homes are being asked to put pen to paper to design a festive greeting to help raise vital cash for a city cause.

Winners of the design contest will get to see their Christmas card design adorn Sheffield Churches Council for Community Care (SCCCC)’s 2020 yuletide offering- as well as a free pack of cards to send to much-missed loved ones.
The multi-faith cards will double up as a vital source of winter income for the charity, which has been at the heart of the city’s third sector response to the Covid-19 pandemic this year.

Ericka Hill, fundraiser at SCCCC, said: “The giving and receiving of cards at Christmas holds even more significance this year, particularly for people living in care homes who’ve had very little contact with friends and family because of the pandemic.
“That’s why we want residents to get involved and come up with a winter scene that will give people a smile whilst also helping to raise money, every penny of which goes to supporting older people in Sheffield.”

SCCCC’s card competition is be open to the over 65s. The image must be a festive scene suitable for people of all faiths to receive as a season’s greetings.

The competition will close on 31 October 2020. All cards should be sent to Ericka Hill, SCCCC, Unit 19 President Buildings, Savile Street East, Sheffield, S4 7UQ.

SCCCC is one of the city’s leading older persons’ charities, which aims to reduce isolation and loneliness in the over 65s. For more information about SCCCC, visit www.scccc.co.uk
