Charity Evening of World Class and Celebrity Squash

20th December 2016

Steel City, Sheffield branded merchandise distributor has recently hosted their inaugural Steel City Cup charity squash event.

It starred former squash World Champions Nick Matthew, Laura Massaro and some other famous friends.   From Left to Right. Team Steel City: Nafiizwan Adnan, Mike Tuck, James Biggin, Paul 'Silky' Jones, Laura Massaro. Team Theo: Nick Matthew, Nick Wall Jnr, Dan Walker, Charlotte Jagger, Freddie Woodward. -We are absolutely thrilled by the success of the charity evening, raising over £6,000 for The Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity. MD James Biggin comments. Matthew and Massaro led two teams of big names from the world of TV and sport, including the BBC's Dan Walker, Sheffield Sharks basketball star Mike Tuck, Team GB Olympic diver Freddie Woodward, boxer Paul 'Silky' Jones and Malaysian Squash No 1 Nafiizwan Adnan.  Steel City's very own MD James Biggin showed off his squash skills on the evening playing against hot Sheffield squash prospect Charlotte Jagger (17) and just took the match by 1 point! James' steal wasn't quite enough in the end as Matthew's Team Theo triumphed over Massaro's Team Steel City on a memorable night at Abbeydale Squash Club in Sheffield on 24th November. Among the light-hearted matches, boxer Jones took on diver Woodward neither of whom had ever picked up a racket before and Massaro gave TV presenter Walker a squash lesson, despite being challenged to use a thirty-year old wooden racket. -Brilliant night playing squashgot absolutely mullered by Laura Massaro, tweeted Walker. -I think she needs a bigger handicapa cricket bat? ;-)   Matthew and Walker are both patrons of The Children's Hospital Charity. The three-time World Champion who Steel City organised the event with, said he was delighted with the fundraising evening. -I'm so happy. The inaugural Steel City Cup has been a remarkable success and hopefully we'll make it an annual event. There have been two winners Team Theo and the Sheffield Children's Hospital. I'll be very happy to give Laura a chance at getting her revenge on us next year! If you would like to donate to the Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity, click here.
