Charity Networking Event Was No Dogs Dinner!

31st October 2017

On Thursday October 26th, Sheffield based digital agency, Hydra Creative, got South Yorkshire businesses to come together to raise money in aid of a local charity.

Hydra hosted their third annual business networking dinner to raise money for Sheffield based charity, Thornberry Animal Sanctuary. Several prominent business leaders were in attendance, including the Mayor of Rotherham, Eve Keenan, and her husband, Pat. The dinner, which was held at the Silver Plate Restaurant at the Sheffield College, raised over £1500 on the evening. Sticking to its South Yorkshire roots, the dinner consisted of a gourmet four-course meal made with locally sourced ingredients. Nominated as Hydra's charity of the year for 2017, Thornberry Animal Sanctuary was set up in 1988 with the aim of supporting unwanted and mistreated animals, saving them from the fate of being put to sleep. Thornberry are dedicated to taking care of animals who become homeless through no fault of their own. The sanctuary has incredibly high running costs of £9000 + per month - they have already had to cut costs and take in less animals due to lack of funds. Gemma Daniels, client services director at Hydra Creative said: -This year's charity dinner was a huge success, with the great and good of South Yorkshire's business community coming together to raise vital funds for Thornberry Animal Sanctuary. On the night we raised over £1,500 for the charity, which will make a huge impact on the lives of the animals they care for; and perhaps more importantly, awareness has been raised of the charity, with several business owners I talked to expressing interest in getting involved with the charity moving forwards, which is great news and a great result!
