Chesterfield driving range tees off with free golf coaching

9th November 2016

Tapton Park Golf Course, near Chesterfield town centre, has opened a brand new all-weather driving range, which aims to encourage more people in North Derbyshire to give golf a try and discover the multiple health and wellbeing benefits of the sport.

Free coaching is being offered between 6pm and 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays to encourage more participation from beginners with an interest in golf. The new driving range features 14 covered bays plus a covered coach and custom fitting bay, as well as 50, 100, 150 and 200-yard distance markers, and golfing equipment is provided. Lorenzo Clark, Operations Director at SIV, said: -This is a very positive move for us as we're looking to encourage more people of all ages and abilities in the region to get into golf. -Visiting a driving range and hitting a few balls is an easy way of getting into the game of golf we see it very much as a 'way into' the sport. -Opening the driving range at Tapton Park Golf Course has enabled us to make golf more accessible to those who might not otherwise have tried it. -Playing golf has so many more benefits than many people realise, and it's a game that anybody can play, so I'd urge local people to come on down to Tapton Park and give it a go. SIV is part of the Sheffield-based non-profit organisation, Sheffield City Trust (SCT) Group, and also operates four other golf courses in the region: Tinsley Park, Beauchief and Birley Wood in Sheffield and Sinfin Golf Course in Derby.
