Christmas Bus, Train and Tram Timetables

6th December 2012

Special bus services will run in Sheffield on Boxing Day and New Year's Day for a festive fare of just £1 per journey.

The First and Stagecoach buses, run in partnership with Travel South Yorkshire and funded by Sheffield City Council, will operate on most key routes between 8.30am and 5.30pm. It will be the fifth year that Sheffield City Council has funded the special services. SYPTE Director General, David Brown, said: -We're delighted to work with Sheffield City Council, First and Stagecoach to offer great value bus services on Boxing Day and New Year's Day. The extra services mean that buses will run every day over the festive period, except on Christmas Day, giving people a convenient way to get where they need to be. Sheffield City Council Cabinet Member for Business, Skills and Development, Councillor Leigh Bramall, said: -Public transport is a great way to get around the city and is a realistic alternative for so many people on these two days. We really do hope people will use these services and take advantage of these reduced fares to help spread the seasonal spirit! Revised bus, train and tram timetables will operate in South Yorkshire from Monday 24 December 2012 until Wednesday 2 January 2013. In many cases, services on weekdays will follow their usual Saturday timetables. In the case of adverse weather, live disruption information and updates to scheduled services will be published on Twitter @TravelSYorks and at travelsouthyorkshire.com   For more information visit travelsouthyorkshire.com/christmas
