Christmas jumpers at the ready

9th November 2018

Slipping on a silly seasonal sweater this December could help raise much-needed funds for children and young adults across the region whose lives are just too short.

Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice is holding its annual Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 7 December this year, and is asking companies, sports teams, schools and community groups to get involved. People can take part by getting their friends, family, classmates or work colleagues to wear a festive jumper on Friday 7 December, or another day before Christmas, and donate a minimum of £1 per person to Bluebell Wood at www.bluebellwood.org/appeal/christmas-jumper-day Fundraising packs for schools, workplaces and individuals can be downloaded at www.bluebellwood.org/Event/christmasjumperday2018 Rotherham United Football Club is supporting the event again this year, with some of the players joining Bluebell Wood's Anna Gott and Ellie Matthews to model festive jumpers at the New York Stadium. Rotherham United supports Bluebell Wood in lots of ways, with midfielder Will Vaulks an ambassador for the charity and volunteering there a day each week. Players and staff also visit families at the hospice in the run up to Christmas each year. Jamie Noble, Head of Community, Rotherham United, said: -Bluebell Wood is a cause close to our hearts at Rotherham United. "We love supporting the charity, especially at Christmas, when some families are going through very tough times. "Everyone at the Club gets involved and we all see it as our job to help put a smile on people's faces. Anna Gott, Community Fundraiser for Bluebell Wood in the Rotherham area, said: -Every penny raised will help families across the region to make special memories together and mean that Bluebell Wood can continue to provide the support they need, from end of life treatment and care and counselling, to music therapy and sibling groups. -Whether you take part with a couple of friends or with dozens of work colleagues, we're really looking forward to seeing people's Christmas jumper photos. People taking part in the day are asked to share their festive jumper selfies on social media, tagging Bluebell Wood at @bluebellwoodch, with the hashtag #Dontbeasweaterscrooge.
