CMD Welcomes New Head of Manufacturing and Logistics Chris Birch to the Team

This month saw Rotherham based CMD welcome new Head of Manufacturing and Logistics Chris Birch to the team.

Chris will be responsible for the product manufacturing and warehouse operation at CMD, a specialist manufacturer and designer of office power solutions and ergonomic accessories. Chris joins CMD from The Manitowoc Company, where he was Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Manager, where he was based for nearly nine years. Previous to this, Chris worked for automotive carpet manufacturer Rieter. Chris's wealth of experience and knowledge within the manufacturing industry is ideally suited to British manufacturers CMD. Chris said, -I chose to join CMD as they are an established company with great potential for improvements and growth in the future. I have always enjoyed a challenge and CMD will provide me the perfect platform to build on the already successful business. Chris recognised that CMD are a forward-looking company which just needs some guidance towards lean manufacturing in order to realise further potential of the business. Chris said, -There is a really good feel about the place as CMD is a company which is willing to embrace change and move the business forward. As Head of Manufacturing and Logistics, Chris will lead a team of over 100 people into lean manufacturing, with the ultimate aim of having a world class manufacturing and logistics facility in Rotherham.
