Cobra founder Lord Bilimoria added to Chamber dinner

Founder and chairman of Cobra Beer, Lord Bilimoria, is the latest high profile name to become a guest speaker at the Sheffield Chamber's annual President's dinner.

Lord Bilimoria is the founding chairman of the UK India Business Council, a deputy lieutenant of Greater London and in 2006 became the first ever Zoroastrian Parsi to sit in the House of Lords. He qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young and graduated in law from the University of Cambridge. He joins Lord Wolfson, chief executive of retail giant the NEXT Group, at the annual dinner which takes place at the Cutlers' Hall in Sheffield on September 26 with around 300 guests expected to attend. The dinner will celebrate Sheffield's manufacturing sector built on a rich heritage and optimistic future, while also looking at the city's economic prospects through the challenges faced in retail. President of Sheffield Chamber Jon Stewart said: -We are delighted to add another well known business figure to the dinner. Lord Bilimoria will compliment the region's competency in manufacturing through his own personal story and that of his company. -This will reflect on the fantastic brewing capability within the city region as well as the broader manufacturing capabilities. -Meanwhile, Lord Wolfson will talk about the ways in which local and central Government can help and hinder economic growth in general, as well as the tremendous retail potential of the area. Tickets for the President's dinner are £60 plus VAT per person for Chamber members and £70 per person for non-members. Some of the proceeds from the evening will go to the Chamber's current charity of the Year, Sheffield Young Carers which provides support to 8-21 year olds who are caring for someone at home.
