Community Foundation appoints new deputy CEO

Michelle Dickinson has been appointed as the new deputy CEO of South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation (SYCF).

Michelle, who has worked at the Community Foundation since 2019, has also taken on the title of Head of Partnerships and Programmes.

She was previously Head of Philanthropy and Programmes for SYCF - South Yorkshire’s largest grant giving charity.

Since 1986, the Community Foundation has awarded more than £40 million to thousands of voluntary and community organisations across Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.

She also led efforts to secure £1 million in donations during the cost-of-living crisis and is currently supporting the Foundation’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

In her new role, Michelle will continue to develop strategic partnerships that connect generous donors with local community needs, helping to build stronger, fairer and healthier communities across South Yorkshire.

Michelle said: “I am incredibly proud to be appointed as deputy CEO of South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation. I love working for the Foundation and take great pride in connecting our generous donors with community need, enabling South Yorkshire to thrive.

“I’m excited to get started in this new role and to continue building partnerships that make a real and lasting difference. I have a such a strong passion for supporting our communities and ensuring that vital funding reaches the people and organisations who need it most.”

Before joining SYCF, Michelle held positions at Virgin Trains East Coast and Business in the Community.  She is also a trustee of High Green Development Trust which manages The Campus and is Chair of Friends of Charlton Brook.

Martin Singer, CEO of SYCF, said: “This is a key appointment for the Community Foundation. Michelle has already made an outstanding contribution to SYCF in her seven-year tenure, and her promotion to deputy CEO reflects both her achievements and her commitment to South Yorkshire.

“She is a tremendous asset to the team, and this appointment strengthens our leadership as we continue to grow our impact. Michelle’s skills, experience and extensive network of contacts across the region will help us to maximise opportunities and deliver even greater support to our communities.”
