Company Celebrates its 40th with 40-Themed Good Deeds...

A Sheffield business is celebrating its 40th anniversary by staging a host of 40-themed good deeds.

Confidential waste and recycling experts Russell Richardson launched in 1978 and are experiencing a boom in business. Staff want to celebrate by giving back to local charities and supporting the community during 2018. -The business has come a long way since it was launched in 1978 by my father Russell. He was an industrial painting and cleaning contractor and discovered there was money to be made in recycling when a client asked him to clear a factory for refurbishment, said MD Jonathan Richardson. -We now work nationally as confidential shredding, archiving and recycling experts and are forecasting 20 per cent growth in our anniversary year. We feel it's our duty to share some of that success. Anniversary fundraising kicked off in January when the company donated 40p for every tonne of waste paper they collected for shredding at their plant in Attercliffe. Russell Richardson smashed previous January records, processing 885 tonnes, and donations  went to The Children's Hospital Charity, Support Dogs, a charity which trains dogs to assist people with medical conditions, and Centrepoint, which now has a base working with homeless and vulnerable young people in Barnsley. Throughout the year, staff will be delivering bags filled with useful personal items such as toothbrushes, shower gel, towels and cleaning products for Centrepoint Barnsley's clients and encouraging customers across the region to follow suit. -Normally our vans pick up bags of waste. We also hope to be collecting bags containing 40 items which will make life a little easier for a homeless young person, said Emma Moorhouse, marketing manager. -The items they contain don't need to be expensive. Their worth is in how useful they are to someone who has next to nothing. The company has also sponsored 40 residential places for local school children at Whirlow Hall Farm Trust, the Sheffield farm where inner-city children can learn and grow. Pupils from Brightside Primary, Darnall's Phillimore Primary and youngsters from Rotherham's Broom Valley Primary have been down on the farm. Other 40-themed plans include staff giving 40 hours of their time to volunteer with local charities. Later in the year, staff will be donating 40 items to a local food bank every week for a month. In December the final good deed will see Russell Richardson supporting Radio Hallam's Cash4Kids appeal by collecting and delivering presents from supporters. Russell Richardson regularly support The Children's Hospital Charity, Support Dogs and Centrepoint via their charity shredding service, which allows individuals and small businesses to bring a sack of confidential waste to the Attercliffe premises to be shredded in exchange for a charity donation. Last year the service raised over £5,000.
