Continued Success for Sheffield Chamber against the Investors in People Standard

Sheffield Chamber has once again successfully achieved accredited status in Investors in People.

Since 1991 Investors in People has set the standard for better people management. The internationally recognised accreditation is held by 14,000 organisations across the world and defines what it takes to lead, support and manage people for sustained success. Organisations undertaking the Investors in People accreditation are benchmarked against Investors in People best practice. The standard expresses what it takes to lead, support and manage people for sustained success and reflects the very latest workplace trends, to help every organisation be the best they can be. Sheffield Chamber puts employee welfare at the heart of its strategy, and have introduced a variety of schemes to ensure employees achieve a work-life balance. It promotes a similar approach to all businesses in Sheffield and is a signatory and founder designer of the Sheffield fairness charter. The Chamber is delighted to be awarded this accreditation at this time, which showcases that staff feel the value for working at the organisation and see it as a great culture to work in. The assessor commented -Over the past few years, the organisation has experienced a great deal of flux and has come through these challenging times leaner and fitter than before. The refocussing of the business on the needs of members and the elimination on public sector funding has put it in a much stronger position than previously. Brenda Jordan, Operations Director at Sheffield Chamber, said -a number of staff across the business were selected to take part in the assessment which was carried out by an external assessor on a confidential basis. At the end of the assessment day it was really pleasing to hear the comments which had been made by the team including: staff feel good about working in the organisation and are proud of the standards of services that they provide to members and that the organisation was described as professional, well organised, friendly and open. Brenda added -It has been a busy year for external assessments given that the Chamber was assessed earlier in the year against the British Chambers of Commerce Accreditation followed by Customer First, so to finish the year with another successful assessment and gain such positive feedback is a real boost for the team.
