Corporate Enrichment Days: Volunteering for businesses and organisations

27th September 2024

Are you a business or other organisation that wants to get out and volunteer? Maybe you want to provide a team day, or just want to make a different to a green-blue space near you. Join us on a Corporate Enrichment Day in the Don Catchment!

The Don Catchment Rivers Trust are an environmental charity and part of the Rivers Trust Movement, a nationwide group of charities that campaign for the conservation and protection of rivers. Our mission is to protect and restore the River Don and the rivers that flow into it. We achieve our work through donations and funding and are supported by trustees and volunteers. We conduct hands on conservation tasks with volunteers in the local community. The Trust is consistently supported by amazing volunteers throughout South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire and has the exciting opportunity to facilitate Corporate Enrichment Days.

These days are bespoke practical volunteer days, designed to suit the interest of the business, their location and their values. Volunteer days are designed and lead by trained DCRT staff who are knowledgeable in their field and provide valuable insight into the environmental conservation sector.

Examples of Corporate Enrichment Days include Natural Flood Management, Himalayan Balsam (invasive species) management and in-channel or bankside river clean ups. These are conducted outdoors and all equipment is provided including waders, wellingtons, PPE, hand tools etc. DCRT staff are First Aid trained and a full safety briefing and tool talk is given before the commencement of any tasks. Refreshment breaks including biscuits is also provided.

Corporate Enrichment days are an excellent way to allow teams to take some time away from their desks, give back to nature and bond as a group. There have been many studies proving the benefits of spending time outside and reconnecting with nature. Volunteering in blue and green spaces improves wellbeing and gives you the opportunity to learn more about the wildlife around you. Other benefits include allowing teams to think creatively and strategically together, positive impacts on biodiversity and being climate active and aware. Our Enrichment Days also contribute to Corporate Social responsibility targets which look to giving back to local communities.

For those interested in our bespoke opportunities, please fill out this request form to let us know the key information we need to design the day: Corporate Enrichment Day request form ( https://forms.gle/5uaWPpRuyu2xz5ZJ7 ). After filling in the form, we will arrange a call to discuss initial ideas and from then we will be able to give a pricing estimation. There is a charge for our bespoke Corporate Enrichment Days to cover staff costs, equipment, risk assessments, health and safety equipment and expertise, public
liability insurance, permissions and waste disposal.
