The open day will raise awareness surrounding the dangers associated with IT disposal and highlight the cause of Sheffield Young Carers. Local organisations are invited to come along and bring with them old hard drives, CDs, DVDs and other media containing sensitive information that they would like to see shredded. Businesses of all sizes collect information about customers, staff, suppliers and business activities. If mistakes happen during the equipment disposal process resulting in a data breach, your business is at risk of reputational damage, costs which could run in to millions and fines of up to £500,000. Once the shredding process is complete, the fragments can be separated and then recycled for use in other products. CSI Lifecycle Services is donating all proceeds from the metal recycling to Sheffield Young Carers, an independent charity who provide support to young carers. Sheffield Young Carers was recently chosen as the Charity of the Year for Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
