DB Systel UK celebrates new customer Arriva Denmark

29th January 2019

Overview DB Systel UK are celebrating a successful end to 2018 which saw the 50-person organization win new business from a major IT services heavyweight and migrate new customer Arriva Denmark to DB Systel UK managed cloud.

Celebrating our new customer The successful customer team comprising of members from both DB Systel UK and DB Systel GmbH secured a new business deal in 2018 to provide IT data centre services and migrate Arriva to AWS Cloud. Arriva were constrained by aging IT infrastructure, however by building trust through transparency, customer focus and technical expertise DB Systel UK released Arriva and migrated them to the cloud in a record six-week period. DB Systel UK designed their Analyse-Migrate-Manage methodology which utilises a data driven process to achieve a detailed picture of Arriva's application behaviour, providing comprehensive data about the compute power being used and the communication between web, application and database servers as well as other infrastructure components. DB Systel UK were able to quickly analyse the data to both provide Arriva with the accurate cost of running their infrastructure in the cloud and view highly accurate communication data allowing DB Systel UK to implement tight security configurations. The next stage of DB Systel UK's methodology, migrate, utilised powerful tools to transparently replicate data from the customer incumbent service provider to the cloud without causing any disruption to service. Once replication was completed Arriva were able to cut over to their new service with the minimum disruption to their business. The final stage of the methodology is the ongoing management of the Arriva Denmark cloud services by DB Systel UK. DB Systel UK have designed a customer centred managed service to ensure Arriva continue to run smoothly in the cloud and gain the flexibility and agility of their new cloud infrastructure whilst optimising for further cost saving. Whilst DB Systel UK celebrated the success of a happy customer and another successful migration to the cloud, they were given an extra reason to celebrate when they were awarded a certificate for the third most innovative deal of 2018 and recognition by Christa Koenen for their cloud migration methodology. In 2019 DB Systel UK will continue to demonstrate their ability to compete with the IT Managed Service heavyweights as they seek to continue to provide value to Deutsche Bahn Group customers and expand into the external market.
