DBL Logistics secure long-term healthcare distribution deal

17th June 2013

DBL Logistics has secured a long-term deal with a leading UK manufacturer of consumable healthcare products.

The substantial seven-figure contract will see the Sheffield-based logistics and haulage company establishing itself as the dedicated transport contractor for Robinson Healthcare. DBL Logistics already transports more than 15,000 pallets annually for Robinson, which manufactures single-use products for medical professionals, pharmacists, distributors, retailers and consumers across the country. The new deal will continue the successful partnership between the two companies which began in 2010 and allow DBL Logistics to remain the exclusive distributor of palletised goods for Robinson across mainland UK. David Clarkson, managing director of DBL Logistics, said: -We have established a long-term relationship with Robinson Healthcare, which has grown to become one of our biggest customers. -This latest agreement is an expansion of the partnership and we look forward to helping Robinson continue its growth as a leading national healthcare supplier. -As a growing business, DBL Logistics is capable of transporting goods to more countries than ever before, boosting UK exports and enhancing the Sheffield City Region's reputation as a hub for logistics expertise in the UK. Robinson Healthcare was founded in 1839 when John Robinson, a retail chemist in Chesterfield, set up a business making pill boxes. The company started manufacturing surgical dressings to meet the demand created by the Crimean War and pioneered the manufacture of medical cotton wool. Today, Robinson Healthcare continues to be a pioneer with the introduction of single use surgical instruments in 2002 and remains a market leader in the sector. Kevin Buckley, logistics manager at Robinson Healthcare, added: -Good delivery to customers is just as important to us as product quality and price. It's vital our products arrive on time and DBL Logistics have helped us achieve this in recent years. -They are right up there for quality performance and price, maintaining Robinson Healthcare's reputation for excellence in the market place. DBL Logistics, a founding member of UPN, is based on Europa Close in Sheffield. It warehouses and distributes a range of goods across the UK and to 26 countries around the world. The company has seen turnover grow to more than £3million in the last year and is currently building a new 33,500sqft warehouse and office building on Tinsley Park Road in Sheffield. The development is scheduled for completion by the end of 2013. For more information about DBL Logistics visit www.dbllogistics.com, call 0114 256 1404 or follow on Twitter @DBLlogistics.
