Dedicated University Staff Honoured at National Awards

22nd June 2015

Dedicated staff at the University of Sheffield are celebrating success after winning an accolade at the prestigious Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards (THELMAs) which recognise the best in administrative excellence in the sector.

The University's Registry Services and Student Administration team picked up the accolade at a special awards ceremony held in London last night (Thursday 18 June 2015). The THELMAs celebrate the best examples of innovation, teamwork and enterprise in UK higher education institutions. The Outstanding Administrative Services Team award puts the spotlight on the excellent work and strong partnership ethos of our Registry Services and Student Administration team and recognises the close working relationships with academic faculties and the Students' Union. The win represents a hat trick for Student Services who have picked up the trophy in previous years for Outstanding Student Services Team and Outstanding Student Admissions Team. Andrew West, Director of Student Services, said: -We are delighted to have won this award. It represents the superb work in our Registry and Student Administration teams and it's great to be recognised for the work of a team which is right at the heart of the academic endeavour of our University. In Student Services we strongly value our partnership working across the University and our success is underpinned by ever strengthening collaboration with academic departments and with all our students. Professor Anne Peat, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching, added: "I'm extremely proud of everyone involved for winning this prestigious award. It is testimony to your hard work and dedication. As a University, we continue to strive to improve the services we provide for students and it is innovative teams such as yours that make a difference and enhance the student experience."
