Derby Golf Club Acquired By 7 Hills Leisure Trust

Irwin Mitchell In Sheffield Advises On Deal Derby Golf Club in Sinfin has been acquired by 7 Hills Leisure Trust, part of the Sheffield City Trust group.

The 7 Hills Trust has taken a 15 year lease on the municipal course, which is owned by Derby City Council, following a competitive procurement exercise. Following the deal, the course which was founded in 1923, will become part of the group of golf courses in Derbyshire and Sheffield managed by the Sheffield City Trust group. Other courses in the group are Beachief, Birley Wood, Tapton and Tinsley Park. The courses are open to all on a 'pay and play' basis and are a key part of the charitable and sporting offering within the group. Sheffield City Trust is a registered charity in the UK with responsibility for twelve entertainment and sports venues across the city. The Trust was established in 1988 and amongst its objectives is to provide recreational and other leisure facilities of a high standard and as economically as possible. The 7 Hills Leisure Trust is part of the Sheffield City Trust and focuses on the area of arts, heritage, science or culture, recreation and saving lives and the advancement of health. The Sheffield office of leading national law firm, Irwin Mitchell, advised on the deal, acting for the 7 Hills Leisure Trust. The multi-disciplinary team was led by partner Laurence Gavin and included real estate lawyers, Graham Walker and Guy Whitehead, pensions partner Nigel Bolton and Rachael Norris from the firm's banking & finance team. Derby City Council was advised by its in-house legal team.
