Devolution Deal - Consultation countdown

9th August 2016

Business and political leaders in your area have negotiated a unique -Devolution Deal.

This deal is worth £1.3 billion over the next 30 years and gives the City Region new powers and funding to improve infrastructure, transport, skills, housing and other drivers of economic growth. The consultation on this deal closes on Friday 12 August so if you haven't already now is the time to show your support. Why does that matter? Because this funding and these powers will support the growth of your business, and other companies in the area. It also gives local business and political leaders far more control over these key drivers of the local and national economy. Sounds good, what's the Deal? To access these powers and this funding, some changes are required to our local decision making structures. These include giving locally elected leaders and a directly elected City Region Mayor new powers, drawn down from Government. We are also proposing to formally extend the area in which parts of the region work together so that it reflects the way that the economy really works. What can you do? Before the Government will make the changes described above, they need to be satisfied that these changes are supported by local residents and business people. To demonstrate your support for the Deal, we ask that you send a letter of support on your company's letterhead to postmaster@ipbcommunications.co.uk. You can find out lots more about the devolution deal on our website where you can also complete our online survey. Please act before 5pm on Friday 12th August.
