DO THE STRAND

25th October 2012

Whilst maybe not as well-known as Bryan Ferry's 1970s referral to London's famous street, The Strand, in his song 'Do the Strand', Sheffield lighting firm Olmec Advanced Materials/Surelight.

com has recently made its own high impact contribution to this famous Westminster tourist spot. The prestigious Strand Palace Hotel has stood in its central London location, close to Covent Garden, since the beginning of the 20th Century and has been famous for social gatherings in the 20s when guests would show off their Charleston and Tango skills as well as a popular place  during the second world war when soldiers jived and jitterbugged or did the Strand -  through the night.  Starting out as one of the most prestigious art deco styled hotels in London, The Strand Palace Hotel has undergone many fabulous refurbishments over the years, keeping it up to date with current styles, and Surelight's latest contribution has brought it bang up to date.  When the hotel was looking to create the wow factor and keep up to date with its neighbours during the Olympics,  50 of Surelight'sArcus II LED Wall Washer Lights were installed on the front elevation of the hotel, creating a fabulous  external lighting effect. The lighting system was installed by Total Electrical, who said of Surelight's low energy LED light fittings "We're extremely happy with the Arcus lights, they were perfect for the job and Surelight's expertise made the project all the easier.  I am told that Strand Palace Hotel was very pleased with the external lighting scheme." So, whilst Surelight can't profess to be an expert at the Charleston or Jitterbug it can certainly say it has 'done the Strand'!
