Doncaster Sheffield Airport receives Very Good Hattrick result from CAA

4th December 2020

Doncaster Sheffield Airport is pleased to receive its third consecutive ‘Very Good’ rating for its assisted passenger service in the Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) annual Airport Accessibility report published today (Thursday 3rd December 2020).

The report assesses and measures the quality of the free assistance passengers with disabilities and those with reduced mobility are entitled to when travelling by air.  The airport performance framework is designed to encourage airports to provide consistent and high- quality assistance.

Ian Smith, Commercial and Passenger Experience Director, said: “We’re delighted to receive a ‘Very Good’ rating for the third consecutive year.  Great customer service remains a priority at Doncaster Sheffield Airport and in such a challenging year, it is more important than ever that every passenger has a great experience when they travel with us.”

The support available for passengers at Doncaster Airport ranges from helping passengers to lift and carry luggage and equipment from their vehicle and getting around the terminal to getting on and off the planes using specialist equipment. A dedicated team ensures that it’s as easy as possible for all passengers to get around.

The fifth annual review of accessibility at UK airports, reports 4 million passengers requesting assistance at the 31 airports covered by this report, up from 3.7 million the previous year.  The Airport Accessibility Reports are traditionally published in the summer months and has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The report notes although flying activity has been reduced in 2020 it has been impressed how airports have adapted so that disabled and less mobile passengers have continued to receive high quality assistance which has been particularly important as substantial numbers of disabled and less mobile passengers have continued to travel by air, when many were returning on ‘repatriation’ flights from all parts of the world.
