Dragon Boat Race!

The race is open to everyone and 21 teams will battle it out over a 200m race course, watched by several hundred spectators. A for Appointments is working with Gable Events to bring you the 1st Rotherham and Sheffield Charities Dragon Boat Race. Rother Valley Country Park offers a superb venue for racing and a fabulous day is guaranteed with bankside entertainment, music, food and fun activities for all the family! Dragon Boat Racing and the Challenge Dragon Boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition and the fastest growing water activity in Britain today as well as the most fun! Up to 10 people paddle each 30'boat with a drummer at the front beating time and a helm at the tail steering a straight course. No previous experience is required, just plenty of team spirit! Crews can be mixed, all female or all male and organisations may enter more than one crew. The minimum age is 12 years and no previous experience of dragon boat racing is required. All crew members must be able to swim in light clothing and in moving water and compete entirely at their own risk. Qualified helms, buoyancy aids and water safety cover are provided by the organizers. Rules Gable Events is an approved operator of the British Dragon Boat Racing Association (BDA) and the Challenge will be run under BDA Festival Rules and hold a BDA Race Permit. All crews accepted for entry must abide with the competition rules and the entry details shown on this form. Each crew is guaranteed a minimum of 3 races (subject to weather conditions). Entry Fees £35 per crew member (£385 per crew). Crews may have less than 11people but there are no fee reductions for crews of less than 11. Entries Will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. A deposit of £100 is required to secure your boat (balance due 1st August 2013). No refunds will be given once an entry has been accepted and there can be no refund if the event or racing has to be cancelled due to conditions outside the control of the event organizers.
