Duo focused on more success after Enterprise win
13th October 2015
The founders of a business that prints photos at weddings, parties and graduation ceremonies will be able to expose their ideas to a wider audience after winning big at Sheffield Hallam University's annual Enterprise Challenge awards.
Tom Stayte and Matthew Atkins, founders of Square Share, won the £5,000 main prize at last night's award, as well as cash for best product and the audience vote - bringing their total winnings to £8,500 on the night. Square Share's social media printers print photos instantly and facilitate social media engagement as people come together to share memories. By sharing a picture on social media networks Instagram or Twitter, tagging the image with the event's hashtag, Square Share print the images posted in under 30 seconds. Tom studied photography at Sheffield Hallam, graduating last year with a first class degree. Matt studied electronic engineering at the University of Southampton. Tom said: "We're extremely happy and also feel very honoured to have won, especially amongst such strong competition. "The cash prize is going to really help us accelerate our development and marketing efforts, and purchase some more equipment. It may be a cliche, but its true to say that winning the competition is the only the beginning of our journey and not the end - the hard work starts now and we can't wait to get stuck in." There were also awards on the night for Laura Newbould-Jones from Creative Metaphor, who design creative and engaging public health campaigns to the NHS and Public Health England, and for Dominic Higgins and Matthew Bell whose SM Studios produce videography, cinematography, photography and web design. The other finalists were Mohamed Ageel who has designed a hygienic cleaning sink target at the Muslim market and Roxana Whiteman who runs art therapy and crafts sessions for the elderly and people suffering with dementia. Enterprise Challenge is now in its 15th year and run by the Enterprise Team at Sheffield Hallam University. It is open to businesses run by current students or those who have graduated in the last five years. For more details go to www.shu.ac.uk/employability
