Dust off your skates and show off your skating skills at iceSheffield

Dancing on Ice had returned to our screens after a four-year break, so why not dust off your ice skates and make your way down to iceSheffield to show off your skills.

iceSheffield, on Coleridge Road in Attercliffe, boasts two Olympic ice pads and offers recreational skating to visitors of all ages and abilities and local schools including, learn to skate and ice hockey lessons, leisure skate sessions and curling. Public sessions which are available Monday through till Sunday give you the chance to come down at your convenience and to try out the activities we have to offer. Shaun Lough, Operations and Events manager at the SIV operated iceSheffield, said: -We expect it to be a busy period for business at iceSheffield in light of Dancing on Ice and with the Winter Olympics not far around the corner as well. -Ice skating is always popular this time of the year but with Dancing on Ice making a welcome return to TV we're looking forward to welcoming plenty of news faces and some old ones down to iceSheffield. One of the centre's resident coaches, Mark Hanretty, is taking part in this year's series as a professional skater partnering with TV personality Donna Air. Shaun continues: -The main increase of popularity comes from families. Coming up there is the opportunity to 'skate with a superhero' on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st January, 10:30am - 3:30pm Why not bring your little ones down! -We are also currently launching a ladies' night on 20 January where tuition be available from 8pm-10pm. Opening times for public sessions are Monday 3.30pm5.30pm, Tuesday 10am-12pm, Wednesday 10am-12pm and 7.30pm9.30pm, Thursday 2pm4pm, Friday 10am-12pm, 2pm5.30pm and 7.30pm10pm, Saturday 10.45am3.30pm and 8pm-10pm and Sunday 10.45am3.30pm. Inside the SIV venue we have a Core Bar or Cool Fuel Cafe which will be open serving hot and cold food and refreshments for when you need a break from the ice.
