Ecclesfield Gala hopes to draw a crowd
27th August 2014
This year's Ecclesfield Gala takes place on Sunday 31 August, from midday 5pm in Ecclesfield Park and aims to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
This award winning gala has been running for over 28 years and offers fun for all the family with entertainment including Kennel club approved dog show, Phoenix falconry display, Dearne Youth Band, parrot rescue, dog agility display, classic motorbikes, stalls, games, amusement rides, slides, home made cakes and even Belly Dancing! Organiser Michael Whiting from Chapeltown said -The Gala is more than just a fundraising event. It has become an established event in Ecclesfield's calendar. It provides a day of family fun and entertainment which brings the community together and is something of which we can all be proud. Over the years the Gala has raised in excess of £125,000, money which has been used at the Palliative Care Unit at the Northern General Hospital, the Lymphoedema service at the Fairlawns clinic in Middlewood, Macmillan nurses in Sheffield and the provision of monetary grants for people affected by cancer. Michael continues, -It is one of the biggest Macmillan events of the year in Sheffield and the funds raised at last year's event alone would pay for over 200 hours of local nursing care which would help thousands of local people affected by cancer. Please come and support the gala, it is a great day out and helps so many people. This year's gala takes place on Sunday 31 August on Ecclesfield Park, so pop along to this award winning event and enjoy a fantastic family day out. The popular dog show is looking for entries too, it features 10 pedigree classes and 11 novelty classes, including the best rescued, the best six legs and even fancy dress. So get in touch if you would like to enter your prized dog! To support the Gala in any way either through volunteering, booking a stall, sponsorship or raffle prizes please call 07545 419 725.
