Exploring Exports Are you Ready?

30th October 2013

This workshop, in partnership between the South Yorkshire International Trade Centre and the Sheffield University Management School, seeks to expose the misconceptions and myths of export and internationalisation of SMEs.

The event will host a number of interactive sessions involving academic research that is complimented by practitioner perspectives in a unique way to engage and challenge the audience. While there is an emphasis by the Government on export and internationalisation as a means of economic recovery, there is an 'information gap' that persists in how businesses understand and undertake such activities.  This event will consider the practicalities faced by SMEs in the Sheffield City Region, focusing in particular on the opportunities and challenges faced by micro-businesses and also firms to engage apprentices in internationalization activities. We believe that the proposed event will provide an opportunity to engage SME owners and entrepreneurs with internationalization and export knowledge based on our on-going research.
