Extra Sunday Service to Belfast from Yorkshire Airport

2nd June 2014

Only five weeks after launching a new route from Yorkshire to Belfast bosses at the regions' airport announced that an extra flight is being added to the timetable rota following significant passenger demand.

The extra Sunday service from Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield with UK regional airline, LinksAir, will begin on Sunday June 29, with a departure from Doncaster-Sheffield at 1.05PM, arriving Belfast at 2.15PM, the return leaving BelfastCity at 2.45PM, arriving back into Doncaster-Sheffield at 3.55PM. With this increase in frequency, there are now twenty-four flights weekly between the two airports with twice-daily services now on all weekdays and Sundays. Steve Gill, managing director of DoncasterSheffieldAirport said: -We are really pleased that LinksAir have seen such positive passenger demand in their Belfast route. -By adding an additional Sunday flight from Doncaster they are providing greater flexibility to both business and leisure passengers. Weekday departures leave Doncaster-Sheffield at 7.10AM and 5.10PM, with the morning service at 10.50AM on a Thursday and Friday, while the return service leaves BelfastCity at 8.45AM and 6.45PM on weekdays, with a 12.25PM on a Thursday and Friday. The second Sunday service leaves Doncaster-Sheffield at 4.25PM and offers a 6.00PM return departure from BelfastCity.  See www.linksair.com for latest timetable. With this new business friendly service having been added just a few weeks ago and fares on the short 70-minute flight to the Northern Irish capital starting from just £64.00 one-way including all government taxes and airport charges, a hold-bag up to 15kg and fast-track security access, the timings through the week are designed to support business access to both the Northern Ireland region and the South Yorkshire, Humber and Lincolnshire regions. LinksAir Commercial Manager, Roger Hague, said: -We are delighted with the early response to the Belfast route and given the service is currently filling on a Sunday, it is great to be able to respond to passenger demand by adding a second flight each-way so soon. -We have seen a very strong corporate demand on weekdays also and welcome new agreements with businesses that are benefiting from this easier route to the Northern Irish capital and the Sheffield City and Humber regions The new BelfastCity service had been welcomed on launch by Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister for Northern Ireland, Arlene Foster, who said: -The re-establishment of the air link between Belfast and Sheffield is great news for Northern Ireland. It not only strengthens our own access to the north of England and the greater east Midlands, but also makes it easier for people to get to Northern Ireland for business or a holiday. This has certainly been the response since the launch and underlines the minister's positive comments on announcing the service.
