Fire Safety in Business - Networking Breakfast

9th August 2018

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have partnered with Sheffield Chamber of Commerce to promote better fire safety in businesses across the South Yorkshire Region and we invite Sheffield businesses to join us at an out of the ordinary networking event which will see delegates treated to a complimentary breakfast while networking in an informal environment in a superb state of the art Fire and Rescue Training Centre.

Tours of the impressive centre will be given by fire crews and there will also be a live demonstration given to delegates by the Fire Service. John Parry, will then offer advice to businesses on various topics such as: How to make your workplace safer All businesses and most other non-domestic premises have certain legal duties to keep people safe.  If you are an employer, you should make sure you and your staff know what to do to prevent a fire in the workplace and how to escape if a fire does break out. Knowing the Law In October 2006 the government introduced the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The changes were designed to make the law easier to comply with and understand. You also need to know about how we enforce legislation. If you have a specific enquiry in mind, please contact your local Business Fire Safety Team for advice. Fitting Sprinklers There is a compelling case to be made for sprinklers in any commercial premises on the basis of loss of production or interruption to business. It is known that 85 per cent of small and medium businesses that suffer a serious fire either never recover or cease trading within 18 months. We promote the installation of sprinklers as a proven means to reduce the impact of fire on people, property and the environment.
