Exciting Updates to First Intuition’s Level 4 Apprenticeship Programmes – Making Accountancy Accessible

5th February 2025

Following the ESFA’s announcement to introduce a new standard for the Level 4 Apprenticeship Programme, First Intuition Yorkshire and Humber have made some welcome updates to our Level 4 programmes, making them more accessible than ever.

The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) has recently introduced a new standard for the Level 4 Apprenticeship Programme: Professional Accounting Technician. This revision brings significant enhancements, including a stronger focus on skills and behaviours development, along with a funding increase from £8,000 to £12,000.

At First Intuition, we are excited to embrace these changes and further strengthen our apprenticeship offerings. Our commitment to delivering high-quality, industry-relevant training has led us to refine our Level 4 accountancy programme, ensuring it aligns perfectly with the updated funding band. This means that for new apprentices starting their journey with us, there will be no commercial over-cap fees, making professional accounting education more accessible than ever.

Moreover, we are proud to announce the removal of out-of-funding fees for new Level 4 apprentices who may need additional time to complete their programme. This ensures that our apprentices receive continuous and dedicated support at no extra cost, reinforcing our student-first approach.

What’s Covered Under the New Programme?

The only costs payable for the revised programme include:

  • Institute membership fees
  • Exam fees
  • A 5% non-levy co-investment for apprentices aged 22+ (if applicable)

Additional Enrolment Opportunity in May 2025

To enable businesses to take advantage of this enhanced programme as soon as possible, we are introducing an additional sign-up window for the Level 4 Professional Accounting Technician Programme, with a new cohort starting in May 2025. The programme includes globally recognised qualifications, ensuring apprentices receive the best possible training to build their careers:

  • AAT Level 4
  • ICAEW CFAB Level
  • CIMA Certificate Level
  • ACCA Knowledge Level
