First tenants sign up to Gatecrasher Apartments

18th April 2016

Two Sheffield Hallam University students have become the first people to sign up as tenants in the brand new Gatecrasher Apartments.

Iqra Khan and Preanka Saha will move in to the £11 million student complex, which is located on the site of the famous former Gatecrasher nightclub, when it opens in September. Iqra (20), who is studying Accounting and Finance at Sheffield Hallam University, and Preanka (21), a Maths student, have taken two bedrooms in one of the complex's five bedroom apartments. The accommodation, at the corner of Arundel Street and Matilda Street close to the city centre, will be a six-storey complex, providing 243 beds, mostly in clusters of three, four and five beds, all en-suite. There will also be 90 one-bed studios each with a kitchen with integrated full-size oven & appliances, breakfast bar, large fitted wardrobe, settee, double bed and 40 inch Smart TV & includes 50GB broadband. Communal features include a gym, cinema room, a lounge and an internal courtyard landscaped as a record turntable to reflect the previous use of the land, which is on the doorstep of Sheffield Hallam University. Preanka, who is from Loughborough, said: -I lived in Sellers Wheel last year and I really liked it there. I was going to try and live there again but then was told about Gatecrasher Apartments it looked brilliant. Obviously everything will be new and the quality is great, so you get much more value for what you get. We're also right near university which is a bonus. Gatecrasher Apartments will be part of the West One accommodation portfolio that already embraces student flats in the award-winning Sellers Wheel in Arundel Street, Huttons Buildings in West Street and at Broomgrove Apartments on Broomgrove Road, as well as the West One residential, leisure and commercial development in Fitzwilliam Street. Andrea Marsden, marketing and residential manager at West One Accommodation, said: -We're thrilled to have secured our first tenants at Gatecrasher Apartments and we look forward to welcoming Iqra and Preanka in September. -As a business we're really proud of what we're creating at Gatecrasher Apartments, with extremely high quality accommodation and competitive rates, and we hope this will set it apart from the rest. Interest has been high so far which is fantastic. Rent for shared Gatecrasher Apartments will be from £110 per person per week, including all bills, studios from £135 per person per week.
