Food Charity Joins Chamber as it Marks a Decade

27th November 2015

A Sheffield charity is marking its tenth anniversary by joining the city's Chamber of Commerce.

The Children's Food Trust, a national charity based in the cathedral quarter, has joined the business network as it marks a decade on its mission to get every child eating well. The Children's Food Trust's 70-strong team is based both at its city headquarters and out in the regions of England, with plans to grow into Scotland in the near future a spread which is key to its ability to deliver and influence work to help children eat better at home, in childcare, at school and beyond. CEO, Linda Cregan, says: -We're delighted to be joining such an influential Sheffield community and very much look forward to meeting as many members as possible. This city has been such an important part of our history and remains the hub of our entire operation, so this is a wonderful milestone in our tenth year. The charity advises on school food standards in England and offers a nutritional consultancy service, menu checking and cookery training to childcare settings, schools and businesses. It runs Let's Get Cooking the country's largest network of healthy cooking clubs for children and families, which has reached more than 3 million people. Its dedicated research programme is building the evidence base on the longer-term benefits of investment in better food for children and the charity is also interested in health and wellbeing in the workplace, through a community interest company called Let's Get Cooking at Work. To celebrate, it's offering members a 20% discount on training sessions from its Let's Get Cooking at Work community interest company, when you book before 31 December 2015. Perfect for rewarding your team for a great year or supporting a New Year's resolution to help your staff eat well, the team can cook up a storm with your employees, involving them in practical 'cook off' competitions, quizzes and fun food activities.
