Former Apprentice gets Best Christmas Present with Airmaster Promotion

19th December 2013

It's almost Christmas, and former apprentice Gareth Campbell will certainly be celebrating his best present - his recent promotion to contracts manager at Rotherham-based Airmaster.

-Gareth joined us in 2000 when the business I started as a 'man and a van' business in 1992 took off with the arrival of my business partner Tony and we needed more staff - fast, explains founder Richard Pogson. -When Airmaster moved into our own premises in 2001, turnover grew rapidly and staff increased to 24 with the growth in maintenance contracts despite the recession. We also have our own in house air conditioning energy assessor and low carbon consultant, plus dedicated in house design team, managers like Gareth and external sub-contractors. As they outgrew their premises and were in danger of stunting growth, the three directors decided to fund growth externally and buy The Wetherby pub at Swallownest and develop it as first their business headquarters plus a flat in the former landlord's premises, with aspirations to new basement training and conference facilities and a community café in planning next year. -I joined Airmaster at 16 years old.  I could not wait to put my school years behind me and start using a hammer and any powered machinery I was able to get my hands on! remembers Gareth. -It turned out that Richard supported me to get on and encouraged fast learning and getting 'stuck in'.  Getting 'stuck in' has taken me from tool passer to contracts manager. With hard graft, I'd say anyone has the opportunity to move their career forward at Airmaster.  Coupled with great people, it is what makes it a fantastic place to work. Richard concluded, -We are delighted Gareth has been part of our successful growth. His recent promotion has also opened up an opportunity for a new member of staff, Lewis Hudson, to join the team this month as a project engineer in Gareth's place. It really is exciting times of continued growth for Airmaster and we are looking forward to what the New Year brings.
