Freeths strengthens Corporate offering with strategic Partner hire in London

11th February 2026

Leading law firm Freeths has bolstered its London Corporate team with the appointment of Partner Zum Mohammed. She joins from Gateley Plc, where she was Head of the London Corporate team.

This strategic hire marks another significant step in the firm’s ambitious growth plans, following a period of exceptional performance.

Zum brings extensive experience advising on domestic and cross-border M&A and private equity transactions, joint ventures and complex corporate restructurings. She regularly acts for well-known mid-market private equity sponsors, family offices and their portfolio companies on platform, bolt-on and exit transactions.

Her appointment reflects Freeths’ continued investment in top-tier talent to meet increasing client demand across key sectors, with a particular focus on private equity-backed deals.

Commenting on Zum’s appointment, Head of London Corporate Tom Rowley said:

“Zum is an exceptional lawyer whose experience and approach align perfectly with the strategic direction and culture of our growing team. Her appointment reinforces our commitment to building a leading mid-market private equity offering in London as a key part of our already strong national practice and ensuring we continue to deliver the highest level of service to our clients. We’re delighted to welcome her to the partnership.”

Freeths’ London Corporate team has sustained momentum over the past 18 months, driven by a strong pipeline of transactions and the firm’s strategic focus on expanding its presence in the capital. The firm’s national Corporate practice has also continued to scale, supported by significant lateral hires, a growing roster of high-profile clients, and numerous industry award wins.

Zum Mohammed added:

“I’m thrilled to be joining Freeths at such an exciting moment for the Firm. The London Corporate team has built an outstanding reputation for high-quality work, commercial insight, and a genuinely collaborative and dynamic culture. I’m looking forward to contributing to the next phase of growth and supporting our clients as they navigate increasingly complex and fast-moving markets.”

Freeths’ growth has been reflected in industry recognition, with the firm recently named Law Firm of the Year at the City AM Awards 2025 and the same at the Legal Business Awards 2024.
