Freeths Strengthens National Employment Offering with Senior Hire in Liverpool

Leading law firm Freeths has further strengthened its national Employment team with the appointment of Director, Sophie Fulwell, to its Liverpool office.

With more than 16 years’ post-qualification experience, Sophie will focus on building and developing Freeths’ Liverpool employment practice, while working closely with colleagues across the national team.

She advises employers across a broad range of sectors, including financial services, technology, education, retail and leisure. Her experience spans the employment aspects of corporate and commercial transactions – including acquisitions, disposals, investments, IPOs and outsourcing projects - as well as large scale HR projects including restructures, redundancy exercises and business transformations.

Sophie also supports clients on day to day employee lifecycle issues, including drafting contracts of employment and senior service agreements, advising on post termination restrictions and business protection strategies, and representing employers and senior executives in complex employment tribunal claims, including whistleblowing, discrimination and constructive unfair dismissal.

Commenting on Sophie’s appointment, Freeths Partner and National Head of Employment, Pensions and Immigration, Rena Magdani said: “Sophie is a highly respected employment lawyer with a strong track record of advising businesses on complex and strategically sensitive issues. Her appointment reflects the continued growth of our national employment team and the increasing demand from clients for high-quality, strategic employment advice across the UK. It also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to investing in senior talent. She strengthens our employment offering and will play a key role in supporting clients across regional and national markets.”

Sophie Fulwell added: “Freeths has a strong national reputation for the quality and depth of its employment practice, and I’m delighted to be joining at such an exciting time for the firm. Liverpool has a vibrant and ambitious business community, and I’m looking forward to building the employment offering locally while collaborating with colleagues across the firm to support clients nationally.”
