Freight company secures industry award short-list

25th November 2013

A freight management company in Sheffield has been short-listed for a national industry award for the second successive year.

512 (Sheffield), based at the Sheffield International Freight Terminal on Grange Mill Lane, is a finalist in the Staff Development category at the 2013 British International Freight Association (BIFA) Awards. The Staff Development category, sponsored by Albacore Systems, is open to companies which are developing, or have implemented, a new comprehensive staff development programme. The BIFA Freight Service Awards is recognised as one of the most prestigious in the industry, encouraging and rewarding high standards and professionalism. This year's awards, which will mark its 25th anniversary, will take place on 16 January 2014 at the Brewery in London with more than 500 people set to attend. Karen Mosley, head of business development at 512 (Sheffield), said: -We were short-listed in the same category last year, so hopefully we can go one stage further this time around. -But to be a finalist again for the second year running is a fantastic achievement and recognition of the work 512 has put into place to support staff development and continue to provide excellent customer service. 512 recently retained its ISO 9001 accreditation for another year after conforming to all key categories in quality customer care and supply chain management. The company will also embark on securing the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) accreditation in early 2014. Karen added: -When operating in freight management the quality standard accreditations are vital in providing companies with the confidence that we can deliver their products to customers around the world in a professional and efficient manner. -Exporting and importing can be a daunting prospect for any business, so to have the knowledge that this area of operations is in safe hands, can make the process a lot smoother. 512 offer a full range of export and import services to businesses. It manages up to 200 export consignments a day to thousands of locations around the world, providing support with airfreight, seafreight, courier, trailer documentation and insurance.
