Freight firm support Yorkshire Air Ambulance with 1,000-mile cycle

11th July 2014

Staff at a freight management company in Sheffield are set to cycle 1,000 miles in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

512 (Sheffield) Ltd is organising the two-week cycle event which will see its ten staff pedal the equivalent distance from Lands End to Jon O'Groats from its office at the Sheffield International Freight Terminal on Grange Mill Lane. Static bikes are being provided to 512 by PureGym Sheffield City Centre from July 21, with staff given 15-minute slots during the working day to pedal their way to the 1,000 mile target by August 1. The bikes will also be taken to the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce office on Savile Street on July 29, where staff there will offer pedal power to 512 to help them reach the landmark miles. Staff at 512 will take the bikes to Morrison's in Chapeltown during the fortnight to help raise money and support for the campaign from shoppers. Karen Mosley, head of business development at 512, said: -We thought cycling 1,000 miles in the office would allow us to support Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the fantastic work they do in a unique way. -As an independent charity it provides a rapid life-saving service to more than five-million people a year. But in order to keep the two helicopters in the air the charity needs £10,000 a day! -We would really appreciate any support as it will help us to go that little bit longer as we cover the distance equal to travelling from Lands End to John O'Groats. The assistance we have had so far has been amazing, with PureGym, Sheffield Chamber and Morrison's really helping us reach our target. The fundraising activity coincides with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and B Braun Medical's 175 Campaign, which is encouraging people across the region to donate a minimum of £1.75 each to help organisers make South Yorkshire its biggest supporter by Christmas. To support 512 with its fundraising please text AUGT91 and the amount to 70070, donate via its Justgiving page www.justgiving.com/512-Sheffield, send a cheque direct to 512 or give at one of its bucket collections.   For more information about 512 (Sheffield) Ltd visit www.5-1-2.com or follow on Twitter @512Sheff.   For more information about The175 Campaign, follow @The175Campaign on Twitter or like www.facebook.com/the175campaign.
