From pets to toes Westfield Health hits 17million claim milestone
21st April 2017
Leading health and wellbeing company, Westfield Health, has hit a major milestone after processing its 17 millionth claim since it began electronic records around 25 years ago.
The health insurance provider processed the claim on behalf of a policyholder to reimburse him for costs towards his daughter's glasses. But, established in 1919, Westfield Health has in the past received much more bizarre claim requests they were unable to process from people trying to claim for their pets' treatment to one person who even posted an envelope of their toenail clippings as evidence of their chiropody treatment. Commercial Director at Westfield Health, David Capper, said: -Processing 17 million claims is a fantastic milestone for us. -While we have certainly experienced some interesting and unusual claim requests over the years, it is perhaps significant that the 17 millionth was so regular and straightforward as it's a timely reminder of how our products help our customers budget for their everyday health costs. -It is also a good indication of the strength of our award-winning customer service we aim to process 100 per cent of claims within four working days. One of the UK's leading not for profit health insurance providers, Westfield Health has almost 400,000 customers throughout the UK, and more than 8,000 organisations nationally operate a Westfield Health plan for their employees. The most popular benefit claimed for is dental, followed by optical, therapies and chiropody. Added David: -Technology has also enhanced our claims process over the years. -While our customers can check their balances and benefits with our Westfield Health app, some of our health cash plans allow customers to claim online, which speeds up the process and also means less risk of any more toenail clippings, too!
