Glide House Throws Itself Into Another Use

4th July 2018

When the organisers of the 2018 UNIBET Premier League Darts were seeking a venue for its VIP hospitality prior to the main event at Sheffield Arena they knew their search was over when they stumbled across GLIDE House, which is close to the arena.

The event was staged soon after the tragic death of Eric Bristow, making for an emotionally charged evening. At short notice the legend Bobby George stepped in as the special guest, joining 60 other important VIPs. Iain Evans, from the organisers, Sport and Music, said: -At first it was a real step into the unknown, not knowing Sheffield or what GLIDE meant. Later we knew different as the event ran seamlessly with staff living up to their name! The standard of catering was brilliant with nothing too much trouble. -Sport and Music is delighted to have already booked for the 2019 Premier League Darts hospitality at GLIDE House! GLIDE House is named after Gripple's private company which represents all staff in the 100% employee-owned group of companies. The top floor is the HQ of the company's People and Culture team where training courses and meetings and conferences are held. In the Social Club on the ground floor there is a bar, café and dining area, all run by staff. GLIDE House is within walking distance of a Gripple site on Carbrook Street and another Gripple group member, Loadhog on Hawke Street. Many staff are based at Gripple HQ on Savile Street East and at other group members, PMS Diecasting and GoTools in Rotherham and Laser Scanning in Chapeltown. For further information about holding an event at GLIDE House please contact David Palmer on 07824 125115.
